I have recently started using Reddit and noticed that some posts and comments get more visibility than others . I am still trying to understand how things work there .

What are the some simple ways to increase karma on Reddit without spammy or breaking rules ?

Join discussions early, ask questions, and add value. Post useful, genuine comments in active subreddits, not just posting links. Upvotes come from relevance and quality. Avoid spam or self-promotion—Reddit rewards consistency and helpful engagement over time.

increase karma on Reddit legitimately, post quality content relevant to the community, comment thoughtfully, and help others with useful answers. Participate regularly, follow subreddit rules, and avoid spammy or low-effort posts. Engaging authentically and contributing value encourages positive interactions and builds your karma naturally.

from my opinion post in active subreddits, comment early on new posts and add real useful or funny replies, consistency and timing matters more than spam.

just focus on contributing where you can genuinely add value. Reply early on new posts, keep your comments clear and relatable, and stick to subreddits that match your interests so your input feels natural.

Focus on adding real value—answer questions, share useful insights, and engage in relevant subreddits consistently. Timing, being helpful, and avoiding spammy behavior naturally increases karma over time.

Stick to your niche subs, stay active during the time when the activity is high, post interesting comments as soon as a new post is made, and respond to comments. This strategy not only helps your account to grow but also makes you familiar in the sub so that people won't find you suspicious when you promote something.

Stick to the communities you actually can relate to and provide helpful feedback, and obviously engage with other community members.

People need to upvote your posts and comments to get karma, so be insightful in topics you know about.

Upvotes are what gets your karma, so you need to comment/post to be upvoted and as a result, your karma would increase.

Hey @Brent Moffit ! On Reddit posts get more visibility if people upvote and comment on them. to get karma share helpful or funny stuff join active subreddits and comment on others’ posts. just be genuine and follow the rules spamming or selfpromotion can get you banned.

It's mostly upvotes innit. Which is mostly comes down to comments of value and relevance, bonus if it comes with wit and (sometimes) humour about them.
Early on, it’s easier to comment than post so just jump into active threads and give useful, relevant replies especially if you have substantial knowledge about the topic. Timing matters too since I believe commenting on newer posts gives you more visibility.
As for not getting flagged or banned, it sometimes depends on each subreddit. For most parts, just follow the rules and tone of each subreddit and you'll be fine (more or less).

Comment early on new posts in active subs because timing matters a lot there. Give real answers or useful info because low effort stuff gets ignored fast. Posting in smaller niche subs is easier to gain karma than big ones.

be active daily, join discussions in trending posts and reply in simple useful way, timing and quality both matter for karma growth

Reply early on new posts, keep comments simple and useful (or funny), and stick to subreddits you actually understand.
Avoid dropping links right away, that kills reach. Build some normal activity first and karma comes pretty naturally

I started by just replying on new posts in smaller subreddits, it helped me get some easy karma. Also upvoting and being consistent daily makes a difference over time.

First of all stop trying to get karma just find the 3 4 good subs related to things that you enjoy. start commenting on hot or new posts in those subreddits with helpful or funny comments. You will get real upvotes from their if people find your comments useful or funny.

just remember, avoid the 'Free Karma' subs, they usually get you auto-banned from the good communities.

Be consistent and patient while posting on your related interest niche engagement. It will take some time for contribution on reddit community to increase the karma.
