Hey guys,

Coming from regular SEO agency, looking to break into iGaming/affiliate/casino roles.

For those who work or have worked in the industry : what actually gets you in the door without prior specific iGaming XP? What skills/profile would you look for in a junior hire?

Thanks !

ps : I'm not talking about personal projects, I'm refering to joining an igaming / affiliates / casino company.

if you plan to run fb ads in this niche, be prepared for restrictions
accounts get banned pretty often, especially in igaming

seen many cases recently
some accounts can still be recovered depending on setup

feel free to message me if you need help later

Hi, thanks for the insights ! yup heard that it was particularly difficult, hence their reliance on organic channels.
But rather than ads I was really focusing on the SEO side of those industries.

Focus on technical SEO skills and managing link velocity since igaming relies heavily on gray hat tactics. Companies look for people who can handle rapid content scaling and aggressive backlink profiles while avoiding automated filters.

Yup that seems to be the case, from what I saw main skills are velocity / ability to iterate quickly, deep understanding of linking concepts and ability to reverse engineer and analyse SERPs and its movements to pivotate strategy depending of the "meta" and whats working at a T time.

Find a reputable account rental agency with high limits. Currently, many accounts are deactivated online, so find a safe agency.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Also, I’d really like to hear from people who actually made the jump from a “regular” agency working with standard clients to large affiliate media companies in niches like iGaming / betting / casinos, or even to specialized agencies in that space

Coming from a traditional agency background, the biggest shock is usually the 'volatility.' In regular SEO, a 5% drop is a crisis; in iGaming, losing an entire PBN or getting a manual action is just a Tuesday.

If I were hiring a junior for an iGaming/Affiliate role, here is what would get them in the door without specific casino XP:

  • Deep Understanding of Parasite SEO: Companies are leaning heavily into 'renting' subfolders on high-authority news sites. If you can explain how to leverage high-DR domains to rank for competitive keywords fast, you’re ahead of 90% of applicants.
  • Backlink Vetting (Beyond DA/DR): Anyone can look at a metric. I’d look for a junior who can spot a 'clean' expired domain versus one that’s been spammed to death by previous casino affiliates. If you understand how to audit a backlink profile for 'toxicity' and 'footprints,' you’re an asset.
  • Generative Engine Optimization (GEO): Mentioning how to optimize for AI search visibility (Perplexity/Gemini/GPT) in the gambling space is a huge green flag right now. It shows you’re looking at where the puck is going, not where it was.
  • Resilience & Agility: Most iGaming companies look for 'tinkerers.' If you’ve ever built a site, even in a different niche, and scaled it using aggressive tactics, talk about that. They want to know you can handle the high-stakes nature of the industry.
Focus on technical execution over 'content is king' fluff. In iGaming, technical infrastructure is king.

Thanks ! great shares there, are you currently in Igaming SEO industry btw ?

I also had a quick question on a specific point: when it comes to GEO in iGaming, is there any real difference compared to more traditional industries in how parasite SEO can be leveraged?

In most cases, a large listicle on a strong domain (even better if it’s thematically relevant) tends to be enough. Is it more competitive or complex in iGaming? Would love to get your insights!

I developed a couple of Casino Apps for a large company that specialized in Casino Apps and they printed money. We made the games extremely interesting with flashy Gold graphics everywhere. I am actually considering building my own.

Hello, you should find a reputable account rental company with high limits and reliability.

Show strong SEO fundamentals + results. Even without iGaming XP, proven skills and case studies get you in.

you end up building this?

You don’t really need prior iGaming experience to get in at junior level. What matters most is strong SEO basics and being able to show you can actually drive results.

If you’ve worked in an agency, that already helps a lot. Skills like keyword research, on-page SEO, and link building transfer directly. It’s also useful to be comfortable with tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush.

In iGaming, they mainly want people who understand how search traffic turns into clicks and revenue, and who can learn the niche quickly once inside.

Are there any channels in China that can promote iGaming?
