I’ve noticed that many Reddit threads are ranking on Google’s first page for competitive keywords. For those doing Reddit marketing, what strategies are working best in 2026 to push a Reddit post higher in Google results? Is it mainly engagement (upvotes & comments), external backlinks, or choosing the right subreddit and keyword in the title? Would love to hear what’s currently working for others.

in 2026, the title and the correct subreddit will still be the most important factors. If the title matches what users search for on Google (a genuine question or review), it's much easier to get indexed. Then, early interaction (upvotes and comments) helps the post stand out in the subreddit, and Google crawls it faster. External backlinks are helpful, but I don't think you need many; the main thing is that the post looks natural and has genuine discussion.
 
The title is 80% of the battle, so make sure you use the exact search phrase people type into google, focus on getting real comments within the first 24 hours to signal that the post is active and helpful, also, always choose the biggest, most authoritative subreddit because google already trusts those communities, sending just 2-3 small backlinks to your thread can often secure the top spot quickly.
 
I'm actually working on it and from what I've seen, it's engagement, mainly comments.
Subreddit itself is not really important, it's just in a relevant subreddit you're bound to get better engagement.

Usea title that matches real search intent post in a strong relevant subredditand make the discussion useful enough to get comments Google seems to like Reddit threads that answer specific questions naturallyKeyword stuffing wont help if the thread looks low quality
