Hi everyone,

Here’s my situation: I have a website, and I’m planning to launch a blog with various sections. I’ve read that adding an author’s name and photo to blog posts can help with SEO by improving trust and aligning with Google’s E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authority, Trustworthiness) guidelines.

The problem is that, for privacy reasons, I cannot use my real face or identity on this particular site.

Would it make sense to “invent” an author using an AI tool like Stable Diffusion to create a realistic photo, paired with a fictitious name and backstory? For example, I could create a LinkedIn profile for this fictional expert and link it to the blog.

Would this strategy improve Google’s perception of my content, or could it backfire if discovered? Is this approach commonly used, or would it raise ethical or practical concerns?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

You're doing this for Experience & Expertise so Big G needs to believe in that.
I could create a LinkedIn profile for this fictional expert and link it to the blog.
Will that build the authors strong brand with Experience & Expertise?
That depends on the content, profile, activity and engagement everything needs to look active.
In simple language you need to make your author popular in your niche.
The stronger you build the brand and popularity the better it will serve your goal to tackle EEAT.

Nope, it doesn't work that way,
I did an experiment last year with dozens of websites and it didn't make any difference,
This includes using people's (authors) names, linking to their social media accounts, including their "expertise" in the bio, etc...

EEAT is more like a mix of authority (which is based on links) and topical authority,
Probably some other additions to the website(s) like 'About', 'Contact', 'Privacy', etc... type of pages would contribute as well

From my experience, creating a few fake users with top-notch profiles for websites definitely helps improve SEO, E-E-A-T, and overall traffic. When these profiles look realistic, with professional-looking photos and well-crafted backstories, they add credibility to your blog. Linking them to active social media accounts like LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram takes it to the next level. Sharing niche-relevant content, engaging with real users, and promoting your blog posts through these profiles can drive significant extra traffic.

I’ve used this strategy multiple times, and it’s been highly effective. Having 2-3 personas with unique tones and areas of expertise makes your site appear diverse and professional. Not only does this boost trust for readers and search engines, but the traffic from social platforms adds real value. If done properly and consistently, it’s a surefire way to elevate your site.

How can a fake author, writer, editor, can have a top notch profile ? Your example with 2-3 personas and each have a scoial media channel , it's a lot of work , you posting content to your site + your 2 fake authors, + these 2 fake authors posting on their own social channel too.... that's a lot of work to do I guess ?

You should make it look very real. Like each profile with social media link

I say it again, a lot of big media news sites have "shady" authors, editors on their site, not one has a social media account !
Will you get a google hammer punishment when you do the same as these big media companies who are in WEF lobby organization (friends of google) ? That's the 1Million $$$ quiz show question here.....do you think google invented EEAT without any reason and ulterior motives ? It would be a lot of work when you have 3 fake writers, editors and each of them have a social media account with content to fill.....

Happy Sunday !

Sometimes Google is very unpredictable. What works for others may not work well for you in this type of situation.

It’s actually not as hard or time-consuming as it may seem. Once you generate your fake authors and build their backstory, you can use AI tools to create the characters and generate realistic photos. Then, create the social media accounts and upload 10–50 photos to get things started. These photos can be travel shots, activity pictures, or lifestyle photos to make the profile look authentic. After that, you can automate most of the work. Set up content sharing, post your own articles, and mix in content from other people to keep things active. As long as you add a few new photos once a year to keep the accounts fresh, the process becomes very low maintenance. The setup might take a few hours to a few days, but once it’s done, you won’t need to spend much time on it. AI tools really make the process easier, especially when it comes to creating characters, generating photos, and automating the sharing.

Also, keep in mind that real people usually don’t post every day, let alone multiple times a day. Their posts tend to be much slower and less frequent, so automating the posts in a natural, spaced-out manner will actually make the profiles look more authentic.

A lot of big media news site shave shady author profiles , heck they not have even a social media account. Your work to create multiple social media asccounts and up to 50 photos is too much of work you not need that.

It deserves a test, the answers are mixed, some say it worth it, others tested and just wasted their time

I created a realistic author with a name, photo, and backstory, and it did help make the blog feel more credible.

Set up an author profile with a unique name and photo, then post on related topics across multiple social platforms to prove they’re a real author and Add Social links to the Author Bio as well.

Thank you fo rthi stip adding your social profile links to yout author bio, I think many people forget that too!

It’s a clever idea and many do it, but there are risks. If Google or users find out the author is fake, it could hurt trust and credibility. Instead, consider using a brand persona or team name—it’s safer and still supports E-E-A-T without crossing ethical lines.

Creating a fictional author with an AI-generated photo might seem like a smart SEO move, but it’s risky. If discovered, it can hurt your credibility and possibly violate trust-based guidelines. Instead, use a pseudonym with a professional-looking avatar and focus on providing valuable, well-sourced content. Google values transparency and content quality more than fake personas.

How will google find that out? Asking each webhosting provider to get the website owner contact details of a website?
Many big media news sites have shady fake authors, you can't check if they are real they not have one single contact page or sical media profles. And these big media news sites not get any punishment from google till today.
