I still use GSA on tier 1 for short term (low / medium comp) projects with good results, but out of the box it's pretty dire unless you mod the engine scripts.

You normally get this penalty on a money site because; Your content is only there to promote affiliate links and doesn't offer anything that the user can't get on the actual product site. Just blindly adding more text wouldn't help. You need to add something of value to your web pages...
