The niche matters here to a degree. B2B you might be best off with LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Other have noted good options outside of buzzstream.com. Scale also matters as well. You might be good with a spreadsheet or using a simple tool like Boomerang and a spreadsheet.

Nope. The best that you can hope for is that your one of the first on such a high traffic blog that your comment would get referral traffic. If you're auto posting, no one is ever going to think your comment is thoughtful enough to click over to your site.

this is definitely a good idea. that said, i'd rather use a tool like brightlocal (and others) that pulls in competitor citations for me automatically. could also scrap serps if you have found this particular method to be superior.
