Yes,it completely depends upon the audience of you fan page. Goto insights tab and see the top most 3 countries. Make a post at evening and night hours(according to their local time). Check the response at different hours.

You can place some link in the description that leads to some offer page or something like that. When the event users click on it and complete offer on your website you get to make some $$. I guess it is the only direct way.

I have talked to them many times,they just solve queries related to facebook ads and promotion. They are only there for that specific department of facebook and will not solve or help in any other queries. If you ask them they will tell you to goto fb support or help center.
