You would pay through bitcoin. Use an off-shore provider. Use an affiliate program that doesn't require your information. Let other people host it to save money. But, there are cheap providers for hosting. I think you're on the right track though.

Godaddy only provides estimates, and even those are misleading just to get people to make a purchase.

A quality expired domain that did not have any backlinks? What was the main value then? Just the domain name?

Probably better off using one of those private brokers for that. I hear flippa is decent.
