Yeah this is probably a very good method, nothing wrong with 8-16 backlinks a day. I believe manual blog commenting with this method will work hand in hand. But of course, if you have a brand new site, might get slapped a couple of times before it ranks.

They are most likely using software to send out submissions. I have high doubt that those links will be very effective for your site. Best scenario, they did no harm and increase your ranking for $5's worth. Most likely scenario, they slightly lowered your ranking than what it was before...
