You can spend time trying to get attention on larger platforms and then have one genuinely useful Reddit comment bring in more relevant visitors than expected. The interesting part is that the traffic often comes from people who already have a specific problem they are trying to solve.
Good timing can help, but a post that people genuinely want to discuss has a better chance of continuing to get attention. If something gets decent engagement later but still stops gaining visibility, there are probably other factors involved besides those initial interactions.
Reddit communities have different activity patterns, so what works for one subreddit may not work for another. Posting when your target audience is actually around can help, but a genuinely interesting post can still take off outside the ideal window.
A focused community makes it easier to attract the right people and establish a clear identity. If it starts getting repetitive or membership growth completely stalls, that's a good signal to widen the topic slightly rather than abandoning the idea altogether.
The difference is often in the intent and presentation. If you participate in discussions, share real experiences, explain things in detail, and occasionally mention a relevant resource, it feels like a contribution rather than a marketing campaign.
In some niches, older answers can keep attracting views because people continue asking the same questions. Focus on a small number of high intent topics and measure clicks and conversions rather than simply chasing views.
I don’t think you need to be everywhere all the time. For me, the biggest priority now is interacting with people whose ideas I genuinely find interesting and contributing something that makes the conversation better.
Try posting Stories consistently for a couple of weeks and see whether you get views, replies, profile visits, or other engagement. If your audience responds to them, keep using them. if nobody seems to care, there’s no need to force it.
