I havent had much success with Tumblr but following this thread to see if there is an element that I have been missing.

Not bad if you use them but they would not be used to rank your page. Only Title tags and H tags are considered.

You should have a separate post for each main keyword, and then have several other posts revolving around the various longtails linking back to your main post from some of them.

I have seen drop in traffic, trying to figure out still what may have actually been targeted.

Sape links may not be as good as they used to be but definitely for churn burn stuff they could give a boost. You can use chrome to translate russian and find tutorials on how to buy links from their site.
