this matches what ive seen too, the clients who actually stick around arent paying for "ai content", theyre paying because it solves something boring like turnaround time or manual work. once i started framing it that way retention got way better than chasing one off gigs.
slow publishers are the one that gets me, pay for a placement then chase them for 3+ weeks just to get it live. now i put a hard deadline in the invoice terms and if a site blows past it once i just dont go back to them.
the footprint stuff is what kills most of these for me, not the content quality. if all ur pbn sites sit on the same host or show up together in reverse whois its an easy find regardless of how aged the domains are. spread hosting and stagger the buys if ur gonna do it at all
internal links from a page that already gets crawled often does more for me than resubmitting in gsc ever did. new pages linked off my homepage or a popular post usually get picked up in a day or two
still run a light 2 tier setup but only pointing at pages that are actually relevant to each other, stopped the pure volume blast years ago. feels like the tiers matter less now than just having a normal looking backlink profile overall
noticed weird volitility on a couple sites starting the 15th too, thought it was just me. guess well see in two weeks if its actually spam targeting or just more ai overview reshuffling like the last one
ran adspower for a stretch and it was fine until i started stacking too many profiles on one proxy subnet, thats what got flagged not the browser itself. feel like ppl blame the tool when its actually the proxy setup behind it
before you nuke anything id check gsc by query and country first, sounds like it coud just be the low volume pages dragging the avg down not a real penalty. pseo across 27 languages is rough to keep thin content out of tbh
yeah its dead for anything you actually care about. tried the css display none thing on an old churn site a while back and got a manual action inside 2 weeks, just not worth the risk anymore imo
internal linking gets slept on way too much imo, i had pages sit unindexed for weeks til i linked them from a page that already got crawled often. sitemap + GSC request helps too but its not instant like ppl expect.
went brand domain on my last project and dont regret it, way easier to build actual trust and get repeat visitors instead of looking like just another keyword stuffed site. EMD still has its place tho if it sounds natural and not spammy.
honestly the biggest thing for me is whether the thread itself ranks or gets real eyes on it, a link buried in a dead thread does nothing either way. i check if older threads from the same subforum show up in a site: search before i even bother posting.
in my experience the referring page matters less then people think as long as its indexed and topically relevant, google seems to weight the overall domain trust more. ive gotten links from pages with basically no metrics that still moved rankings a bit, so i wouldnt overthink page authority too...
ive seen mixed results honestly, the ones that worked best still had an active review flow and locals still search the biz name. if its just a dead listing with old backlinks the seo boost feels pretty thin imo
had the same issue on an old site, turned out half my backlinks pointed to pages that werent even indexed anymore. check GSC coverage first before building more links, fixing that did more for me than any new link did
