I did contact many sellers in the past, but no one was interested. I was told by many shops that they had had a bad experience with affiliates or advertising directly on sites.

A 2-year-old website of mine has an average above 30K pageviews. The last three months with a steady 39K from real organic traffic. I did not do link building or other tricks, just solid real content. What is the best way to monetize a blog in the garden and plant niche?

I have had the same experience. It took me much longer before my articles started to rank than usual, when I just buy a brand new domain and start from there. IMO Google knows when a domain changes hands and therefor waits to see what this new site is about.
