Unrelated question: Is there a "google dance" so to speak with an adwords campaign as well? I feel like it takes time to establish a quality score but every time you make a bid adjustment or pause a campaign it takes awhile to get going again.

I've bought traffic so to speak for social media profiles as in "Likes" to build up a following on sites like Instagram and Facebook. Adwords works like a charm and Yahoo/Bing does as well but less effective.

Whatever happened to Business . com directory for a free listing? That used to be a given directory right up there with DMOZ and Yahoo Directory.

I thrown in 1-2 relevant outbound links in my articles per 500 words or so. Good to have relevant anchor text surrounding the OBL. Don't overdo it either.
