Good luck to you and your dad. I agree with others above - I would try to stay as white hat as possible and focus on review/testimonials. That should help his google places/local search results.

Actually being in the index and in the cache are two different things. You can get cached (they know about you and have crawled at least part of your site) and then you are ranked and added to their search results.

Sorry... it stinks, that's for sure. FWIW, I have one site that is doing the same but a couple others that (so far) are A-Ok. Hope it comes back quickly!
