Most of the time those pages dont need new content at all just one or two relevant links pointing at them. I have pushed stuck keywords from position 12 to top 5 with a single niche edit when the content was already solid. New pages take months to even get crawled properly, so that makes more sense.
For a quick check I just use ahrefs backlink/checker, top 100 links is usually enough to see whos linking and the general pattern. If I need the full picture for a client site I'll pull it straight from GSC instead since thats the actual data Google has, not a crawlers guess at it.
A guest post on a small niche blog with zero DR can send you actual buyers while a "big" placement just sits there for the link. I check real traffic before agreeing to any placement now not just the metrics.
DR is an Ahrefs metric not a Google metric. What I actually check is whether the site is still getting organic traffic after the last core update. A DR 35 site that survived two updates beats a DR 60 site that lost 70% of its traffic every single time. The number stayed the same, the trust didn't.

My biggest challenge right now is figuring out what google actually wants to rank. I have seen the pages with better content better backlink profile loose to pages that look average on the paper So, I spend more time studying the pages that rank better then building another backlink
A lot of people chase metrics. I pay more attention to the relevance and placement you will get better result when you stop looking at the backlink but the page from where the backlink comes because the contextual link inside a relevant article work much better then a random page
Okay, I think a lot of people just focus on the backlinks and forget the page itslef, because I have seen the pages with fewer backlinks ranking better because they are fullfilling the user need, I don't mean that backlinks don't matter but the backlinks alone can't decide the ranking
A lot of SaaS sites jump straight into link building but its much easier to earn quality backlinks when you have something useful to reference like original data, a free tool, or a genuinely helpful resource.
The backlink matters but the page youre building links to matters just as much.
No, SEO is not dead but the old spamming techniques are dead but fundamentals stay same always like user intent, semantic writing, Authority. In today era we need to highly focus to optimize content for LLMs because people moving towards them and also pay attention to social media and the best...
Okay, This makes a lot of sense that means instead of reviews google is prioritizing the relevance rather then reviews which are easy to manipulate. It really feel like google throwing fresh profiles at top to check user behaviour, I have one more question, Does you guys see any profile ranking...
