tor+vpn doesnt sound like anough...(?), tor to browse is a good idea but is still not secure enough, adding a vpn is slightly more but still treacable, as communication jabber+proxy is still a good idea you put all in a virtual machine and "work" only while using open wifi kinda like cybercafès...
