While I agree with what you say, depriving newbies of information is not going to prevent google from launching penalties as they dont bother about those just learning the tricks, they are rather after those who have got an actual hang of things.

These things do happen, the last thing you would want to do as an internet marketer is be shocked.

I appreciate your concern and suggestions, but don't take google seriously. If they do decide to index or penalize, they would without any reason. They are just trying to scare marketers into believing seo is the toughest and the most expensive thing to indulge in.

Since you have shut the website down, you are safe. Just ignore any further correspondence from them. And yeah, never sign documents that they ask you to, which is a stupid way of accepting liability.
