About content ID. It will not get you a copyright strike. A DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) claim will get you a copyright strike.

You have to claim fair use on an appeal or in a counter claim. Counter claims are very rarely answered because the original claimant has to show proof of a litigation to YT within (I think 14 days). Not only that, the litigation must be filed in YouTube's jurisdiction, which is in San Francisco...
