That depends, Javascript is a fundamental part of web development. If you want to learn web development and build more advanced and custom websites Javascript is absolutely necessary. But if you only want to build websites with Wordpress, then you will be fine without learning javascript...

Would suggest you look into Javascript too. It's necessary when you work with web development.
