Don't lock every page - just lock the pages with each individual episode. I run a couple of TV show sites (for Walking Dead, etc.) and this seems to be the best way. If you lock the homepage you definitely will lose people to other sites.

People don't act because they don't want to invest time / money to make money. Getting banned from The fear of getting banned from Adsense doesn't keep EVERYONE up at night. :p

Seems like they solved their largest problem by doing this. Never did think that paying for article views would work out.
