I think it depends how quick Google acknowledges and credits you for the links, sometimes it could be less than a day and sometimes longer than a month.
Its difficult to point out the exact problem unless you do the same with multiple domains to see if they all respond in the same way. But your domain would not lose its power if you redirect it to a new one, but the new one may inherit any penalties that the old one holds.
Different platforms work differently for different people, so trying them out would be your best option. Go for the one that does not delete accounts much too often.
