Tax on your amazon purchase depends on where you ship the item. Some places they still do not collect tax.

If shipping cost is less than 5% of the item cost, i think people would be fine with shipping cost. cheap price + free shipping + volume is another model too.

IMHO it is not the speed of listing, your price need to be competitive too. I know few people that do such business. They operate on a very low margin but high volume. Cost of your automation software matters as well. Last time I checked, segemai-retail is one of the good such service out there.

Why only Amazon? why not eBay and others? Try both models for a year and see which one works for you.
