I don't think hostgator is as good as they used to be. I've had a lot of problems with them lately on multiple hosting accounts.

Push vs Pull Marketing

Maybe you had posts that were ranking higher in the search engines for products that people were really buying. Then, maybe new low converting posts came into play, pushing your high converting posts out of the way.

How has the farmer update impacted your strategy?

I wouldn't waste my time building anything on something I didn't own. Google can pull the entire account in a heart beat.
