There are so many suggestions already offered and I want to add blogging communities like medium, triberr and inbound to generate free and targeted traffic on your website.

It may be due to heavy theme or no. of plug-ins you have installed. Try with basic theme and low plug-ins to check whether it is the main issue or it could be due to hosting.

It is better to place your link with anchor text on Spanish content websites as it is logically not the right way to give your Spanish anchor text on English website.

I don't think that there is any backlink checker that is free and provide entire backlink profile.

Apart from content sharing and social media promotions, you can try to provide some free giveaways like free e-books, PDF etc to attract users towards your blog.

I think Video Marketing (use Youtube, Vimeo, dailymotions etc. for submissions) and info-graphic creation another two good strategies to increase your visitors as we all know "an image can say 1000 words"!! :)

After every Google algorithmic update, a small flux is always detected in SERPs, but it doesn't prove that your site is penalized by Google update. My advise is wait for some days and check your keywords ranking regularly. It may be possible you get back your previous ranking after sometime.

Niche Guest posting is really helpful for me too. I find it by using Google operators, like: Your Keyword "write for us" Your Keyword "Guest post" and many others. or you can also find guest post on Myblogguest.com, postjoint.com, postrunner.com etc.
