I agree with the credibility of a .com site. The domain I want is taken and the only other option is .net, .org, etc. The is mostly the reason I haven't purchased the other options

I wish you the best of luck. The same exact thing happened to me. I made a Facebook account with fake name bc I only used it to be an admin for my business page. The mistake I made was being the only admin. They wouldn't budge and even denied my request to just flat out delete my business page...
