I was going to blast links at my new site until I read this thread. hvanphat's 5-10 a month plan feels painfully slow, but I can't argue with the reasoning behind it.
Guilty of this one. HustleTong's keyword-stuffing point landed because I was still chasing density on my old posts. I'm rewriting them around intent now.
Ran a tiny churn-and-burn site on a spare domain just to watch what happens. vistimm's warning not to experiment on important sites saved me from doing it backwards.
Never looked at brand mentions that way before. yikib's point about someone remembering a brand and searching it later hits home, I've actually started testing that in AI search. Makes the ranking-only view feel narrow.
I used to refresh Search Console every day hoping to force it. Arbistoteles is right to ask what actually moves the needle though. I'll start tracking which posts get indexed first.
My one guest post win came from a niche blog that actually ranks. india's point about choosing digital PR only on nice sites lines up with that. The page matters more than the tactic.
Flipped between both camps too many times to count. T0uchMe's split makes sense to me, push early on new sites, wait for movement on older ones. Which do you find riskier?
Topiano saying to link top pages back to a new article changed how I see this. I always assumed external links were the only way. I'm trying internal links first on my next post.
Count me as a former DR chaser. Hot_Box's take flipped my thinking: one guest post on a site that actually ranks beats five high DR links from nowhere. Now I'm checking traffic before pitching.
Last month I put up two web 2.0s with real articles on them, just to test. I'm with seotrends on the indexing point. Without anything linking in, mine just sat there doing nothing.
