Why dont you give it a try again,, since you already have lots of knowledge about it and small thing needs to learn.. even though you failed still you have learned a lot and you will not start from zero but you just to look back and check whats wrong and try to correct and and soon you will...

Its very basic.. you can easily make that kind of logo even in Microsoft Word.. But its ok at least youve tried your best.. You can check some of the video tutorials in youtube.. I suggest using Adobe illustrator for Vector file
