BTW, if you only have 500 dollar budget in total I would start with 5 sites to cover costs of some link building. But if it's really a micro niche you can do it yourself as well and for free: -article link building (f.e. at ezinearticles) -social bookmarking (f.e. digg) -use one site for link...

if those 50 sites have the same niche, try to make the domain name registration info unique as well. Google can see the domain holder info and probably uses it in its algorithm...
