Is this a troll? :) I have a house with 4mb internet included now, but it's shared. Used to pay for a per day package with a USB modem (cellphone stick), about $2 a gig. Oh yeah, I'm in Guatemala. Feel better now? :D

And I don't mean that just for the Americans, either. You really should be working under the assumption that most countries are doing the same, or soon will be if they're not.

Was anyone under the impression that once the technology to track its citizens every move was developed, that it wouldn't be put into use immediately?

It's only free if you're a citizen and aren't paying taxes. Canada is a great place during the summer months on the sides. In the middle or in the winter, you can probably do better.

Been living in a tourist town in Guatemala for the last year. Had a small house on a beautiful lake there for $200 a month US. Peace and quiet, a quick 1km walk into town for plenty of restaurants, bars, and active-minded tourist chicks.

Not baseless, that was simply what had happened up to that point. Thankfully, he has since contacted me and explained the situation. So we're cool for the moment, just waiting on my articles now. Will update soon.
