Facebook is timing out anything that takes more than 30 seconds to load. Does anyone know why?

So when looking at the code... after 30 seconds there is a 500 Server error. This seems to be the case with any box that pops up and takes more than 30 seconds to load. Is this just facebook trying to keep server traffic down? Any explanations for why this is happening?

I have a Facebook profile with around 4500 friends. When I attempt to "select guests to invite" it says my friend list is loading and then simply goes away. Has anyone had this problem recently? Is FB cracking down on the number of invites it actually lets you send? (I have sent invites...
