Well it is quite clear that the visits that came were spiders just checking up on your updated content... google wouldn't manually review your site if it's THAT new nor would google manually come back every few days to check on new sites, that would simpy be impossible... :)
Yeah, I've done something similar to this and can definitely agree that the chance that the video will be reported for copyright infridgements by the original author of the video are really small and in the past 4 months of submitting a lot of videos to youtube i've not met with a signel...
Well actually, from my personal experience I can honestly tell you that it IS in fact possible to get a site to the top position for a reasonably competitive keyword in 1 - 2 weeks if you know what to do.
And to what Codythebest said about backlinks not affecting SERPS, I seriously beg to differ.

youtube,
and tons of others, just have a look around you'll surely find a method that doesn't involve having a website in a couple of minutes.
The more you diversify the keyword link placement the better it will be...
just be random in the percentage (only keeping in mind to use the main keyword at least 50% of the time).
There are loads of mass pinging service around, just use google and you'll find them with ease.
And IMO it's worth getting them pinged initially, but overdoing it doesn't help at all.. :P
