It shouldn't be much of an issue with modern search engines, they know ? is a variable and not the actual permalink itself. Are you seeing them in GSC?
I would be interested about this too. It seems Jekyl is always growing in popularity as an alternative and much faster so it has that advantage but where does it fall short?

I'd recommend Gravity forms or WPForms (Premium version) they can be customized however you want and with a little CSS can be designed to be tidy and smaller too.
100% vote for WordPress.
Even if you start by using a free WordPress.com site and then later move to self-hosted on your own domain which is where you eventually want to be, this is the only way to own your website and work outright.
People do, but you don't own your domain and the CMS hasn't evolved in years. So I don't think it's the best option unless you just want to test things and even then WordPress.com is a better free option.
Medium.com is a better option to see if there is a market for your content.
If you want to take the affiliate route then you want to look at what products or services are related to the blog niche, create a mind map / spider diagram and fill in the boxes.
Then look at how you can target these with
- Affiliate offers
- Your own services
- Other peoples services

If they are low competition then yes, but you want to look at the search intent for the keywords you want to rank for and access if any other short articles are ranking highly.
