I've created a few projects but they never went anywhere, it was mostly for experimental purposes to learn how. One thing I will say is the creating the project part was the easiest, growing a real community around the project was the hardest. Some stupid ideas with good marketing take off...

I just started using https://ifttt.com/twitter For myself all I am doing is, when I get a new follower on Twitter, IFTTT sends tweet out from my page welcoming new Follower.. I can't attest to how well IFTTT works or if your twitter will get banned. Be safe.. Use lightly at first i would recommend.

So did you happen to start a crypto blog? I think with everything else niche specific would be easier. Talking about Bitcoin & Ethereum it might be harder to rank your articles. Rather if you talk about Link or Algo you might have easier chance on google.

Always the end result will determine on how great your content is,not false followers. Buying views and followers is good to just "fake it till you make it", one way you could go about building a following would be. Think of a couple interested topics you like find and search for creators making...

I use Ethereum more often than any because I play a few of the dapp games built off the network. My second case would be Ethereum Classic more and more dapps are being built from classic.

Maybe try this out localethereum.com if you at least purchase ethereum then you could trade for equal value of bitcoin.
