Yeah issuer side is a big one too. Some banks just blanket-block certain merchant categories regardless of the account. Easy to misread that as a bad card.

Yeah, this happens more often than people think. A card can have a good history and still get rejected during the adding process. That's why I usually don't judge a card based on one factor alone.

Yeah, same here. The specs can look good on paper, but actual usage is what really tells you how a card performs. But consistency is a lot harder to judge upfront, I think.

Yeah, exactly. That's been my experience too. Some cards look basically the same on paper, but once you actually use them, there's a pretty big difference. The verification issue is a good point too. TBH I've seen cards that seem fine initially but then run into problems later.
