Google do, They know, but they care about people, user experience. If people like the AI answer, google doesn't has to do anything with it. its useless if they bann ai's content, and people love that. in short, they know, but almost dont care.

i think semantic search is really seo game changer, these are technical seo skill which are give more chance to rank : good onsite, semantic html 5, semantic structure, last but not least are seo audit skill & very natural offpage.
