Nothing is a substitution for manual spinning. Algorithms just can't understand the human language anywhere approaching as well as a human can/could.

First of all, welcome to BlackHatWorld. There is an absolute wealth of information here, and as others have suggested I'd advise starting with the search option and also reading the stickied threads on general subjects, it's a great place to start!

A desktop PC should be able to support running almost 24/7 theoretically, but you may find a VPS (virtual private server) better suited for your needs if you are consistently leaving your computer running this often.

It'll depend on your product and niche etc, the most basic answer is to test it yourself! I've heard people say red works best, others say yellow cored red, some green, just test and see!

Blogger is a lot more customisable than Google Sites, I'd definitely recommend Blogger if you're doing anything more than a quick Web 2.0 property!
