Huh, a buddy of mine was telling me you can buy human traffic and get a fairly good conversion. Is this not true?

Part of me hopes that's the case, part of me hopes it's just my website and I can freeze the traffic until I fix it. Is there anywhere I can get ~500-1000 human traffic samples, or for around $1? Or is there a service you can suggest? Lesson learned, always sample a service. Thanks in advance.
