the problem is not their odd interface but the fact, that Mailchimp has very strick legal policies...

I think that Mailchimp is not a good choice. Try GetResponse- for first month it's totally for free and later you can buy a plan for 1,000 subscribers. Good luck! If you have any questions- feel free to ask! :-)
