How do you define local backlinks? Backlinks on domains that include the city name, backlinks in articles with a local connection (regardless of the domain name), or on local directories, etc., or backlinks from other local businesses?

I'm currently testing expired local domains, that is, domains that include the city name. I plan to use them to build a sort of “mini-PBN.” What works internationally should also work for local searches (I hope).

That's a very good question, because Google seems to be implementing these changes very quickly. I'd like to know the answer to that, too.

Basically, the ranking is very easy to manipulate; all the factors mentioned here aren't unimportant (they're important for long-term ranking), but these days you can rank just by using EMBT and a few reviews plus a category. Google has become very lax about this.

Update: I just reported all pages as "This place does not exist" and google deleted most of them within 15min. But I also (as a little experiment) reported my main competitor as “currently closed,” and it was accepted. WTF, I feel so damn powerful :D
