Sounds to me that you're doing way too much too soon. 1-2k in 2-3month is a bit touchy *especially* for low competition keywords. Think about it. If there's no competition for a keyword, how can one guy all of a sudden get a surge of 2k links for a keyword that everyone else around the web is...
