Google will never penalise EMDs. It would be completely counterproductive.

I assume they'd be nofollow. It's not hard to check though, you can get an addon for most browsers (e.g. firefox) that highlights nofollow links.

It's hard for a beginner to make $200 out of adsense. The traffic required would depend on the niche...but it would usually mean a lot.

Interesting that number 9 ranks so highly...I have quite a few sites at 9, maybe its a good idea to keep them there
