I guess it would really depend on what you were trying to sell? The keywords that you were organically ranking for would determine the type of traffic that was getting sent to your site. If the keywords weren't targeted towards the right type of people, you would see virtually no conversions...

In my opinion, Jekyll should only be used if you know what you are doing. If you just are looking to crank a site out, my suggestion is always Wordpress. I need to look more into the SEO-based differences between the two, but with the various SEO plugins for Wordpress, combined with proper SEO...

One more thing I just thought of. Why couldn't you still buy a domain name and (in the case of a Wordpress 2.0), just domain map it to your 2.0 property? I would assume that in the search results you would see the domain name instead of the Wordpress subdomain? This way you wouldn't have to pay...
