It will take some patience. It took me about 9 months before I received 100 visitors a day. Just keep being consistent with your practices building links, guest posts etc. -

Adsense Earnings Down 50% in this January and Feb
I agree about January and February being slow months. This has happened to all of my websites the past 5 years. Around March and April Adsense usually kick back up to normal earnings. -

Not sure if google do the google dance on expired domains. On new domains keywords can go up and down the first six months. Try to build backlinks for other keywords. -
