a good rule of thumb is that .com is better, especially is the site is in English (rather than in Spanish)
However, there is nothing wrong with a .es domain if the domain name rings some bell for your visitors (short keyword domains for example)
I am not too sure resellers are the best options. They are likely to buy at ~10% of the end user value.
Once in a while, I see people asking for a broker on consignment for ~30% commission, and it may be a better option (you remain the owner of the site until it's sold)
If your domains are...
I am not aware that registrar do verify your identity. Usually, they only verify that they can reach you by email. In some countries however, there is a real verification.
They have a way to track who you are though your payment. May be vcc do work to preserve anonymity (I've never tried).
Namecheap is good, but not cheap (~10$ and their coupons are not generous).
I looked to various options today, and I didn't find anything cheaper than godaddy (sorry).
They offer ~1$ registrations, but with strings attached. Renewal will be expensive and you can only get one or a few domains...
There are plenty of tools to valuate domains (not sites). Most are based on on keyword research and click value. They are more suitable for keyword domains than for brand domains. They give an indication, but they completely ignore if there will be buyers or not for this domain.
I wonder if...
I tend to think the same. You may get a tip/reward, otherwise, you may face legal action.
May be it can become your's after 1 year + 1 day (lost and found laws may differ from country to country)
I'm curious to know how you detect if a domain is 'trendy and sellable'
There are two sides in my question
a) What tool do you use to dig through a large number of records (auctions, pending delete...)
b) what criteria do you use to decide if a domain is worthwhile to buy
(I am not talking...
I'd try to use MSOutlook and VBA
step1: download your emails to MSOutlook. In doing so, you have a clean and usable format
step2: extract the emails into a database using MSAccess (simply using an external link to outlook)
(warning: use preferably MSaccess version up to 2010)
I am also reserved at the idea to buy many domains.
emd may still work, but, it is said to be less and less efficient, so there may not be much SEO interest to own many domains.
Brandability of domains is certainly a more interesting thing to consider. you might want to buy other highly...
I've often read that negative seo does not really work. If you try to send a million spammy backlinks to a youtube video, their ranking is likely to increase, not decrease, and it's the same for many established sites.
as far as I know, you cannot get cash with paypal. They only can send your money to your bank account.
Paypal is extremely dangerous for large amounts as you are liable for any mistake you make that they consider to be outside their policy. They set the rule, they judge the case and let you...
My basic tools
IBP - same company as SEOprofiler
a nice tool box for onpage factors and to find backlinks opportunities
OSE (opensiteexplorer.org) - to find backlinks
The free version is good enough
MSAccess + Outlook
I do about the same things as what SEOprofiler does
Overall, you need...
