This morning im seeing the serps return to normal and my sites are back where they were prior to Dec 5th. Not happy as iv lost those rankings again.

Why dont you install SyderSpanker and restrict access to such bots? I mean you can set the crawl rates allowed to say 80% for legit search engines and blacklist all offending crawlers. There is even a global blacklisting function that dissallows suspicious attacks.
