Instead of ranking I would actually suggest to post in forums that have the right target audience. If it's fora with quite some visitors and they're right in the targetgroup of what you're offering; this is worth much more than the eventual increase in ranking that you get from it

Another way is using waywayback machine. If you go years back and find blogs, there's a high chance you could score expired blogs with a decent PR.

PS: Good trick is to go to waywayback machine and see what content was on the page years ago. Try to copy the old texts in google. If they are not indexed in Google, you can re-use them and Google will index them as unique texts :)

Defintely re-write. Unique content is what you need. Don't forget to update regularly.
