Sorry having a hard time explaining it. Ok, its a review site like cnet or something using thesis. We're going to review hundreds, eventually thousands of products, but there are a few key products we want to keep front and center. In other words don't want them buried as we add more posts. So...

Anybody know how to do "custom" thesis setups? I don't think its custom per say, more like I want specific reviews to stay front and center, or somehow highlighted in the sidebar. I guess a better description would be thesis configuration expert.

From our personal experience, we found doing both works. The top half of the page is static/sales - the bottom half has rotating content such as recent blog posts/news etc. SEOMoz.org does a good job of that
