In my experience, SaaS, marketing, recruitment, B2B usually are the most responsive. I have gotten good engagement from them, especially if your skills and what you are offering fit their needs.

I did it once a long time ago. It didn't help. Engagement is big on Linkedin, so getting real connections in your industry and field is much better than random ones.

I feel like it's just repetition. I see the same type of content over and over again, maybe with a little change here and there, but mostly just the same thing. People see what's working/trending and then quickly jump on the bandwagon to try and get the same results.
