Yea ...if the article or the comment sounds too mechanical or irrelevant or out of context its probably done by a robot. Why would anyone want to read/click or follow the link ..its probably not even worth an eyeball. Today if I open my facebook page ..its filled by stuff which I just zone out...

My two cents ...I think I agree with most of above suggestions. I guess a combination of both and carefully selecting your links/spoke etc ..is crucial. Automated tools for this may become almost useless in the light of new algos by these big boys :( I would stick to manual, smart and relevant...
